IMPORTANT:
Students should consult with a chemistry advisor to make sure that the above courses are scheduled in the appropriate order and will be available when they need to take them.

Collateral area:
An BA major also must complete a Collateral Area, consisting of no fewer than 12 hours in courses at the 2000-level or higher taken outside of the Chemistry Department. The collateral area consists of a set of intermediate/advanced courses addressing the particular interests and career plans of the student. A list of suggested course sequences has been developed by the Chemistry Department (in Biology, Geology, Marketing, Management, etc.); however, since other sequences also may be appropriate, the student should consult with an advisor in the Department concerning course selection. The collateral area is essentially the same course sequence that may be substituted for the foreign language in the BS program.

Mathematics and Physics courses:
The math requirements for the BA degree are MATH 1500 and 1700 (Calculus I and II); the physics requirements involve a choice of PHYSCS 1210 and 1220 (College Physics I and II) or PHYSCS 2750 and 2760 (University Physics). (Note that this is not necessarily the same math and physics requirement that applies to the BS degree.)
